“The California Homeopath” was founded in 1882 by Dr. William Boerike and Dr. W.A. Dewey. Published in San Francisco, the bimonthly journal existed under this name until 1892, when it was replaced by the “Pacific Coast Journal of Homeopathy”.

These journals are as relevant today as they were in the 1800’s. They offer valuable clinical experiences, analysis of cases, discussions about philosophy and principles. Some of the best homeopathic practitioners of the day contributed to these periodicals and they have become the documented history of the efficacy of homeopathy.

In 2006 the California Homeopath was reborn under the California Homeopathic Medical Society. It was published for another decade under the editorial direction of Richard Pitt. But then faded back into the shadows in 2016.

We are are now, in 2025, witnessing the journals third charmed emergence. Under the collaborative effort of a team of dedicated individuals the California Homeopath is undergoing a full century revival. Not only the republishing of the 2006 - 2016 decade, but also of the lost issues of 1882 to 1892.

As the Journal moves into future issues the aim is to focus on the art and science of classical homeopathy with a global orientation and integrative perspective. We’ll explore practical topics such as the latest advances, clinical best practices and current challenges that the homeopathic profession is facing.

The Journal will also be exploring the deeper mystery-esoteric wisdom of homeopathy in the context of modern day alchemy, quantum theory, consciousness, archetype and myth. Delving into the more complex understanding that homeopathy has of the relationship of between nature and human consciousness.

Homeopathy is both modern and archaic, it is empirical and mystical, it is a science and an art. The “new” California Homeopath journal is addressing a need within the profession, especially in North America, for a professionally produced and intellectually stimulating journal that embraces the unique position that homeopathy has in medicine.
