President’s Message

by Richard Hiltner, MD

Dear Colleagues,

It has been a very active year for the California Homeopathic Medical Society.  The CHMS was able to offer Continuing Education Units [CEUs] to Naturopathic Doctors, Nurses and Acupuncturists at the International League of Homeopathic Physicians [the LIGA] Congress in Redondo Beach, Ca in May 2010. There were about 450 attendees with 100 speakers from 30 countries.  The American Institute of Homeopathy was the national association that actually organized the Congress.  The Liga has about 70 countries with about 8,000 members and has its Congress in a different country every year since about 1926.

The Liga Congress had two themes: A Homeopathic Odyssey and the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the publication of Hahnemann’s  Organon of Medicine.

As Dr. Samuel Hahnemann exclaims in Paragraph 9 of the Organon of Medicine that the term “cure” or health occurs when:

“…the spirit-like vital force [dynamis] animating the material human organism reigns in supreme sovereignty.

It maintains the sensations and the activities of all the parts of the living organism in a harmony that obliges wonderment.  The reasoning spirit who inhabits the organism can thus freely use this healthy living instrument to reach the lofty goal of human existence.”

Hahnemann makes it very clear that the “real” person is not the physical body alone.  The body is the vehicle for the “reasoning spirit” [force, chi, qi, vital force, consciousness] which it uses to obtain knowledge and experience on this plane of energy/substance, so that it can evolve and experience all of life.  In other words, so it can bring out all of its potential [“the lofty goal of human existence”].

The Liga Congress 2010’s Logo pictures Hahnemann as being inspired by the Universe to reveal the Law of Similars.

Homeopathy is based on the Law of Similars or the LAW OF ANALOGY.  This is a KEY law to understanding the Universe.   In other words, like all of its laws, this is a law which the Universe supports through it magnificent strength.   No person, organization or thing can resist the Universe Laws in the long run. There is no doubt that through the Odyssey of trails that homeopathy has endured these last 200 years has revealed its healing powers.  It has reached its “Critical Mass” and will surely reach its proper place in medicine.  It is all a matter of time.

The CHMS has had some changes in its Board of Directors and Officers. Dina Lapatoukhina has moved from Secretary to the Board of Directors.  She was replaced by Ralph Monserrat who is an Acupuncture Physician and has a PhD in Educational Administration and Social Psychology.

The next CHMS Seminar will be with Frans Vermeulen and Linda Johnston on May 14-15 2011 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel [same hotel as the Liga Congress].  The theme of the Seminar will be:   Precision Prescribing through the Botanical Perspective.  Please go to the website homeopathywest.org for more details.

Richard Pitt and Marci Mearns have been placing the California Homeopath Journal online. Richard continues to edit the Journal with articles and information for the advancement of homeopathy.

Marci has been instrumental in arranging PayPal payments on the website for the Journal, membership and seminars.

Ralph Monserrat is developing the Society Forum with articles, videos, audios and Facebook. This will allow more rapid communication and awareness throughout the state, nation and globe.

So there is much room for optimism for our Society and Homeopathy in general.  Thanks to all of you for your membership and support.  Wishing you a fruitful and fulfilling new year.
