President's Message The CHMS in 2007

by Richard Hiltner, MD

The California Homeopathic Medical Society [CHMS] has had several changes in 2007.
Much thanks and appreciation to Premananda Childs and Richard Pitt for the hard work, expertise and enthusiasm they have shown in the production of three first class [2 this year] journals for the CHMS.  I have heard nothing but praise for their efforts.

On a sadder note, Lauren Feder has offered her resignation from the Board of Directors.  Lauren has served many years on the Board as well as given a number of presentations at the annual  CHMS conferences.  She is well known for her use of homeopathic medicines in pediatrics  and with pregnant and post-partum women.  She has designed a number of homeopathic medicines in her various kits.  Thanks again, Lauren, for your generous time, effort and good advice.  We will look forward to seeing you again at various conferences and hopefully more articles.

The Annual Spring Conference of the CHMS was on the UCLA campus in a beautiful hall with a fireplace, no less.  Everyone seem to benefit and enjoy the meeting. Special thanks to Robert Gramlich for his full day seminar “On the Sankaran Method.”  He certainly has a knack at presenting a clear view on a complicated and deep subject.  His presentation was filled with an enthusiasm and empathy that clearly demonstrated his love of the philosophy and homeopathic care.  Sadhna Thakkar spoke on “Homeopathy and Autism Spectrum Disorder.” Cases were analyzed and brought depth to an important subject.  Her new book on the Snake Remedies is available.  Please contact her.
Ifeoma Ikenze very appropriately demonstrated the relationship with especially the bird remedies in a Sankaranesque approach to “Depression and Anxiety Disorders Treated with Homeopathy.”

Stuart Garber's efforts in a more controversial area of homeopathy called “Gemmotherapy” were well received.  These homeopathic medicines are taken from some of the most potent forms of the various plant and mineral substances in a lower potency range.  Dr. Garber has developed a line of single and  mixture preparations.  Robert Milne closed the conference with a real finale.  His expertise in  conventional medicine, homeopathy and  Traditional Chinese Medicine gave a broad spectrum conceptualization to an extremely important topic “Integrated Approach to Pain Management.”  The finale was his invention using sound, light and color in an apparatus to quickly lessen the pain in a matter of minutes of one of the conference participants. Much thanks to all the speakers and participants of this very stimulating seminar.

At the business meeting at the UCLA conference,  May 3-4, 2008 was set for the next Annual Spring Conference, hopefully also a UCLA.  Much thanks for all those attending this meeting.

On a future note, it is good to set your calenders for May 18-22, 2010. At that time the CHMS will help organize the 65th Congress of the International League of Homeopathic Physicians [the LIGA] in Rhonda Beach, Ca at the Crowne Plaza Hotel with beautiful views of the ocean and beach.  The LIGA is well known for its international quality of world renown speakers.
